About Miva

Since 1996, Miva has helped online sellers increase their revenue, drive sales, and decrease their overhead costs. That work has powered over $100 billion in online sales and put countless merchants in control of their own destiny. With the launch of Vexture, our new AI-powered search tool, we're building search that understands what shoppers mean, not just what they type.

What started as a small office in San Diego has since grown into a fully remote team, with team members across the United States. Miva has been consistently named one of the Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in San Diego and in the Nation, year after year.

About the role

We are looking for a full-stack Web Developer to join Miva's Professional Services team.

This is a client-facing delivery role: you will sit in on client conversations, translate their business needs into technical requirements, and explain tradeoffs in plain language when a client isn't technical themselves.

You will build and maintain eCommerce storefronts using MVT (Miva's server-side templating language), HTML5, CSS3, and vanilla JavaScript, and connect client stores to the rest of their business systems through integrations that range from modern REST APIs to legacy XML-based systems. The work spans large-scale builds, ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and project discovery across multiple client accounts. You will work closely with Project Managers and collaborate cross-functionally across Miva to turn those requirements into solutions that hit scope and timeline.

You will:

  • Scope, estimate, and execute development tasks based on approved client requirements, signed SOWs, and predefined service offerings
  • Develop, customize, and maintain eCommerce storefronts using HTML5, CSS3, and vanilla JavaScript (ES6+) within Miva's template and configuration layers
  • Maintain deep platform knowledge to apply optimal store configurations within the Miva admin
  • Build and support integrations between Miva stores and external systems (ERPs, CRMs, payment providers, shipping systems, analytics platforms, marketing tools) using REST and SOAP APIs and legacy XML-based services, without relying on third-party libraries, including data mapping, authentication, rate limits, and error handling
  • Troubleshoot and resolve frontend, backend, and configuration issues across the platform and connected systems
  • Optimize storefront performance and conversion: Core Web Vitals, SEO (schema markup, product metadata, faceted navigation, crawlability), WCAG accessibility, and cross-browser/cross-device compatibility with a mobile-first approach
  • Configure full-funnel eCommerce analytics and GA4 tracking using GTM
  • Implement merchandising solutions such as cross-selling, dynamic product listings, personalization, and rule-based promotions and discounts
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code, and participate in code reviews, QA validation, and client acceptance testing
  • Follow established deployment procedures and release schedules across multiple client environments
  • Track time against approved client work and communicate status, blockers, and scope risks as they come up
  • Perform other duties as assigned

You have:

  • 5+ years of professional web development experience, including at least 1 year in eCommerce
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (including preprocessors like Sass/LESS), and vanilla JavaScript (ES6+), with a firm grasp of the DOM
  • Working experience with PHP in a web development context
  • Experience with SQL-based databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Proficiency with version control systems and Git-based workflows
  • Ability to work within defined scope, timelines, and platform constraints in a client-facing delivery environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote, asynchronous team

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience implementing eCommerce storefronts on platforms such as Miva, Shopify, BigCommerce, or Magento
  • Experience integrating with external systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERPs and CRMs
  • Experience with build tools such as Webpack or similar tooling
  • Advanced knowledge of Modern PHP and Laravel, with a focus on MVC design patterns, RESTful API development, and scalable backend architecture
  • Experience using containerization or local development tooling such as Docker
  • Prior experience working in an agency or Professional Services delivery environment
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery efficiency and code quality
  • Familiarity with Agile or structured project delivery methodologies

Benefits & Compensation

  • 100% remote (U.S. based)
  • Unlimited PTO
  • 10 paid holidays
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with a company match, vested immediately
  • Paid parental leave

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
