About Miva

Since 1996, Miva has helped online sellers run their stores end to end, with merchants on our platform
doing over $100 billion in sales along the way. With the launch of Vexture, our new AI-powered search
tool
, we're building search that understands what shoppers mean, not just what they type.

About the role

We're looking for a Staff Accountant to join Miva's finance team, reporting directly to the Controller.

You will:

  • Handle day-to-day transaction accounting in the general ledger, including accounts payable: code vendor invoices by GL account and department, prepare payment runs for Controller review, maintain vendor records and W-9s, and prepare 1099s.
  • Manage corporate card and expense activity across Ramp and other company card programs: code transactions, follow up with team members on missing receipts, and reconcile statements each month.
  • Review and record bank feed activity in QuickBooks Online daily and prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all operating and sweep accounts.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable and undeposited funds between Maxio and QuickBooks Online each month, and work with the billing team to research and resolve differences.
  • Prepare and post month-end close entries, including maintaining prepaid, fixed asset, and depreciation schedules, recording accruals and recurring journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts with supporting documentation, and completing assigned close checklist tasks on schedule for Controller review.
  • Support the Controller on sales tax, including tracking obligations across the states where Miva has nexus, and reconciling Avalara to the general ledger.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation for your work and assist the Controller with audit and tax filing support as needed.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience is a must.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, including month-end close responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of accrual accounting under GAAP, including prepaids, fixed assets, and accruals.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude in your accounting work, and interest in using AI to automate and improve recurring processes.
  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online or a comparable general ledger system.
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and building reconciliation schedules.
  • Comfort reconciling data across more than one system, such as a billing platform, an expense tool,
    and a general ledger.
  • Some exposure to sales tax basics, even if you haven't owned multi-state filings on your own yet.
  • Solid attention to detail and the ability to meet close deadlines while working independently in a
    remote environment.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with Maxio or a similar subscription billing and revenue recognition platform, such as Chargebee, Zuora, or Recurly.
  • Experience with Ramp or another corporate card and expense management platform.
  • Exposure to SaaS or ecommerce accounting, including subscription revenue recognition under ASC 606.
  • Experience working on a lean finance team reporting directly to a Controller or CFO.

Benefits & Compensation

  • 100% remote (U.S. based)
  • 10 paid holidays
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with a company match, vested immediately
  • Paid parental leave

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
